Personal memories
I worked in the Republic of the Congo for two years, from 2008 until the end of 2010, in Mboundi, a small village in the jungle. Some of the oil-production methods seemed to belong to an earlier era, and working there with the local people reminded me of the film The Wages of Fear.
We had very little equipment for repairing the old installations, and failures were frequent. Nevertheless, we managed to keep the oil production going and establish reliable water injection.
