Destination overview
About this destination
Nigeria lies in West Africa, with a coastline on the Gulf of Guinea. Abuja is its capital, while Lagos is a major commercial and cultural centre. The Niger and Benue rivers meet within the country.
Its landscapes range from southern coastal and forest zones to northern savanna. English is the official language, alongside many Nigerian languages. Literature, music and cinema are important parts of its cultural influence.
Oil and gas production is closely associated with the Niger Delta region. Large cities, regional trading centres and rural communities reflect the country's considerable geographical and cultural diversity.
My connection
I worked in Nigeria with CAMOM as an onshore electrical supervisor. This assignment formed part of my early experience in the oil and gas industry.
